Favorite Details from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding!

The latest royal wedding is over. Now that there isn't likely to be another for a while the best we can do is look back on the wedding and draw inspiration for the next weddings in our lives!

1. The headpiece that Meghan wore was not technically a tiara, but a really special headband. Her something borrowed from the Queen herself is nearly 90 years old, but there's something even more incredible about it! The center jewel is actually a removable brooch that dates around 1893 and is made up of 10 diamonds! This priceless piece of historic jewelry hasn't been worn in decades, the last head it has sat upon was Harry's great, great grandmother, Queen Mary!

 

2. That's a lot of florals! £110,000 (or rather, $147,262) was spent on over one TON of white roses and peonies, foxgloves, and silver birch greenery! The flowers were all locally grown and sourced and created into grand archways at the entry and inside of the chapel. After the wedding, instead of letting all that gorgeousness go to waste, the generous royal couple donated the flowers to local hospice centers to brighten the days of these patients! 

3. Prince Harry designed Meghan's engagement ring himself! The center stone is a massive three carat gem that came from Botswana (Botswana being the location of their first vacation and where they say they first fell in love)and on either side are two diamonds collected from pieces in Princess Diana's collection (aww!). When asked what Meghan thought about the gems being from Princess Diana's collection, she said "It’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us!"

4. Prince Harry personally asked Sir Elton John to perform at the reception. The performer was a close friend to Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, and remains close to the younger prince. Included in his performance was the song he wrote in honor of Princess Di "Candle in the Wind."
