Pros and Cons of Having Your Wedding in the Winter

Pros and Cons of Having Your Wedding in the Winter

Winter weddings are somewhat of a rarity. Why is that? Well, here are some pros and cons of Winter weddings, maybe this will help you decide if it's for a good reason or not!

PROS:

1. Prices may be cheaper for venues and vendors. Unless you're having your wedding around Christmas or New Year's, venues and vendors might discount their services and products just to keep their schedule alive,

2. Unique Pictures. If the weather is right, imagine the beautiful wedding photos you will have! Snow covered trees and land would be a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding party!

3. Venues are usually already decorated! If you want a Christmas themed wedding, the venues will probably already have Christmas trees and wreaths already hung! Perfect for saving money in the decor category!

4. Black Friday Sales. Imagine all of the cool stuff you'll be able to purchase for your wedding! Not only that, but imagine the awesome gifts your guests will give you! A lot of unaffordable things suddenly become a possibility this season!

5. You will have so many more choices for vendors in these months! Since the vendors aren't as busy, you'll have the pick of the lot! No settling for you!

CONS:

1. If you're in the midwest then you know what I'm about to say.... Weather. The forecast could say clear skies on Friday night, but then you'll wake up to 18 inches of snow and closed roads.

2. Speaking of closed roads, even if the weather was predicted correctly, what about icy roads? The possibility of someone having an accident is much higher this time of year.

3. Thanks to the holidays, your last-minute wedding budget will likely be rather tight. This could be avoided with lots of early planning and purchasing, but what's the likelihood that it'll actually happen?

4. School makes it more difficult for out-of-town guests to travel.

5. Guests and your wedding party might also have trouble with taking vacation time. The holidays are a very popular time for everyone to take days off, so if it's a Winter wedding you're wanting, send the Save-The-Dates out as soon as possible!

So what do you think? Is a Winter wedding worth it?
