Pros and Cons of Having Your Wedding in the Summer

Pros and Cons of Having Your Wedding in the Summer

June and July used to be the two most popular wedding seasons of the year. To a certain extent, they still are. If you're thinking about having a beautiful Summer wedding, here are some pro's and con's to consider.

PROS

1. Anyone who was in school over the Spring will suddenly find themselves with more time to devote to your wedding the weeks leading up to it!

2. The dress options open up! Since it's not going to be freezing, like in the Winter, you can actually consider wearing a dress that isn't designed to keep you warm!

3. The weather is more predictable. You don't have to worry about those pesky random rain falls that no one saw coming during the Spring months.

4. Holidays. There are far fewer holidays to worry about in the Summer. Even if you have your wedding on the 4th of July weekend, all you need to do is throw in some fireworks and everyone will be happy!

5. Food trucks! Food trucks are a fun and unique way to feed your guests in the Summer. And they're everywhere!

CONS

1. Since the weather is more predictable, you can predict that it will be incredibly hot. Outside ceremonies may leave your guests extra fatigued by the time they go inside and the dancing begins. One way to help out the special people in your life during these hoyt months is to have fans and water bottles available during the ceremony. But what about the most important people? You, your new spouse, and the wedding party?

2. Melting desserts. This is a common problem most people don't take into account. Icing melts, and if you don't take precautions, the beautiful cake you spent ours picking out and designing could turn into the leaning tower of pastry, and those cupcakes you were so excited about will leave your guest's hand sticky with melted frosting.

3.  Vacations. Summer is a popular time for vacations. Unless you send Save-The-Dates out super early, your guests may have already made plans to be out of the state on your wedding weekend.

4. The blaring sun causes more problems than heat sickness. Pictures taken outside may be blindingly bright and you may have trouble keeping your eyes open because of the light pouring down from the sky above. Even in shaded areas, any blotchy patches on sunlight through the leaves could leave some unfortunate marks across everyone's faces.

5. CONSTRUCTION. Summer is construction season! Not only could it cause problems with your guests arriving on time, but it could make a normally beautiful street looking quite unappealing and cause loud noises throughout your big day.

So there you have it, some pros and cons of Summer weddings. Hopefully if you're planning a Summer wedding, this at least gives you a few things to consider! Happy Wedding Planning!
