Pros and Cons of Having Your Wedding in the Fall

Pros and Cons of Having Your Wedding in the Fall

Fall wedding are all the rage in today's wedding world! Is it worth it? Check out these pros and cons to help you decide!

PROS:

1. If the timing is right, the trees will be absolutely stunning and make the most perfect background for your wedding photos!

2. The weather shouldn't be as hot as the Summer months, cooler weather will make you and your guests feel lighter and more willing to get up and dance!

3. This time of year makes choosing your wedding theme easy. Fall or (for the really adventurous couples) Halloween is everywhere! Go to the local Dollar Tree and you can find perfect Fall/Halloween decorations cheep!

4. The lighting for your pictures is perfect! The sun won't be as blinding as the summer months, and sun set comes earlier, so you won't need to wait as long to get those amazing sunset pictures you've been dreaming about!

5. You can serve warm or cold drinks! No need to choose in this season! Warm apple cider and hot chocolate will be perfect, especially if the weather is a little nippy, but it won't be so cold that chilled drinks will make your guests freezing!

CONS:

1. If you don't time it right, the trees will still be green, or worse yet, dead all together. Your dream of brightly colored leaves framing your pictures could turn into ugly, bare branches surrounded by mostly brown grass. There's only so much editing a photographer can do!

2. High demand for Fall weddings can make it almost impossible to find a venue and vendors. Wedding professionals are starting to book 3 or more years  in advance for the fall season, so if you dream of getting married soon, Fall might not be the best option.

3. Another reason high demand is a problem is that vendors may have higher rates due to how many brides and grooms are contacting them. Choosing another season could at least save you some money!

4. Harvest time. this could be a problem for many reasons. Anyone with dust allergies will be miserable. Tractors will be everywhere. Fields will go from lush green plains of plants to ugly stretches of brown in no time flat.

5. The weather may cause a problem. It's less predictable in the Fall, especially in the midwest where it can be 98 degrees during the day, and freezing temperatures by midnight. Backup indoor plans will likely need to be put into place to account for weather variables.

Fall can be a beautiful time of year for a wedding, but is it worth it? That's up to you! But at least you have been warned about some unfortunate possibilities!
